The Benefits.

Videoconferencing alleviates the expenses of "being there"...Videoconferencing technology allows two or more
people at different locations to see and hear each other
at the same time. The rich communications technology of videoconferencing offers new possibilities for legal professionals in need of out-of-town meetings,
collaborations, depositions and trial-preparation.

When your attorneys are in different geographic locations,
travel costs can become a big part of the company's
expenses.

Some attorneys spend a few days a week in one office, and a few days in another. Obviously, travel is expensive and time-consuming, and attorneys, managers, and even in-house trainers who are on the road are less accessible to colleagues and clients.

This is where videoconferences can alleviate substantial expenses for you, both tangible and intangible, and also reflect on the prestige of your firm.

And, as part of a worldwide network of Legal Videoconferencing Centers, Sclafani Williams Court Reporters, Inc. can help you benefit from the convenience, coordination and support demanded by international legal affairs.

The experience.

Placing an ISDN videoconferencing call is a lot like placing a telephone call. After Sclafani Williams connects you with your other attendees, you see the other person(s) in color video and you can also transfer files or collaborate via options such as document sharing or whiteboarding. The video frame rate varies from 15-30 frames per second, allowing a smooth audio and video experience.

Of course, videoconferences can be taped for review later. And in the case of depositions where written testimony cannot relay the attitude, emotions and body-language of a witness, videotaping a declaration can add invaluable support that can be viewed by a jury later.

Basic Videoconferencing Technology.

SW Court Reporters Videoconferencing allows the smooth transmittal of high quality images.A videoconference system must have audiovisual equipment (monitor, camera, microphone, and speaker) as
well as a means of transmitting information between sites. As you can imagine, highband connection with studio-quality equipment produces an excellent full-motion video connection, but the equipment and transmission expense is huge and few legal offices can afford the investment in a videoconferencing system for their infrequent needs.

Videoconferencing connections may be limited to a closed network (such as a LAN) or may use public networks (such as
regular phone lines). Sclafani Williams Videoconferencing Centers connect via ISDN (Integrated Services Digital Network) for high-quality videoconferencing, transmitting at a minimum of 128 Kbps per line, thus providing dedicated bandwidth for smooth audio and video (15-30 frames per second).

Videoconferencing can also be performed via the Internet, however, an Internet-based connection often shares or competes for bandwidth with other Internet data, which may cause audio clipping or delays resulting in jerky video on slow networks.

Increases Connection with the Outside World. As a Legal Videoconference Network Center, SW Court Reporters can facilitate meetings worldwide.

When a live visit is not possible, videoconferences makes
face-to-face visits possible and cost-effective, convenient meetings can take place. And, as videoconferencing is usually easier than visiting, communication can be more frequent, saving time and resources for all parties involved.
